- The second cause of pigmentation is genes. Genetics or genes play an important role. For example, take dark circles. We see budding 20-year-old youngsters getting pigmentation and dark circles under their eyes. It’s because everyone in their family is facing it.
- The third cause of pigmentation is the leftover marks of pimples, acne or some scars. Some examples of scarring are chicken pox scar and pimple scar. These marks also come under the topic of pigmentation.
- The other causes of pigmentation include freckles, sun spots and age spots. All these come under pigmentation.
- The last and most important cause of pigmentation is friction. This is something we have noticed with a majority of people. The friction with the towel or scrubs causes pigmentation. If you sweat a lot and feel like rubbing your face with a towel, that causes deep scars and pigmentation. As we grow older, our skin becomes less merciful. This is called frictional pigmentation.
- Melasma is another dominant cause of pigmentation. We know many of you are unaware of this term but, for the sake of it, you should know that it is called the mask of pregnancy. Now, you might be thinking that why it is called the mask of pregnancy? Well, there are a lot of pregnant women or women who are going through menopause, or women who are on contraceptive pills or women who are on any sort of hormonal medications tend to face the pigmentation issue.
Pigmentation usually occurs on the cheeks and a little bit on the nose. These were some typical areas but, it also occurs on the upper lips, above the eyebrows and on the jaw line as well. This type of pigmentation must be taken care of.
