I always wonder how people have such smooth and glowing skin. After years of research, it has brought into our knowledge that “Exfoliation Is the Key”. An effortless process of getting rid of all the dead skin cells on the face is generally termed as Exfoliation. Exfoliation is a practice and one must approach it in their Skincare routine.

It plays a very important role in healing our skin. However, there are several Do’s and Don’ts of Exfoliation. One must be aware of them before they harm their delicate and glowing skin. Exfoliation has some amazing benefits as well. Best things happen to people when they exfoliate properly.

Best exfoliators are said to reduce pigmentation to a great extent. Exfoliation also reduces blemishes and repairs the skin. With all the benefits listed above, one might have understood the importance of exfoliation. But, knowing about the importance is not enough. The Do’s and Don’ts of exfoliation must also be in your knowledge. Here are some of them-

Do’s of Exfoliation

  • Being gentle is the technique. Exfoliation is a responsive process. If you are harsh while exfoliating your skin, it will respond oppositely to you. Breakouts may even emerge as a result.
  • One should exfoliate according to their skin type. People with dry skin can exfoliate twice or thrice a week depending on the climate. But, those who have oily skin should exfoliate only once a week. Cystic acne/pimples may appear if you exfoliate frequently.
  • A good quality, with small beads exfoliator must be considered. While exfoliating, make sure you have the best one. Exfoliation shows its results even better when a good quality exfoliator is used.
  • Try using a natural DIY exfoliator. At least once a week use natural ingredients to exfoliate your skin. Natural ingredients are beneficial and they don’t have any side effects as well. However, one must do a patch test before applying it on their face.
  • If you are new to exfoliating your skin, then do it only once or twice a week. Exfoliation must be done at night so that the skin looks lustrous and radiant on the next morning.

Don’ts of Exfoliation

  • Do not over-exfoliate your skin. Exfoliating the skin more than required can bring insane results that can hurt your skin terribly.
  • One should not exfoliate irritated skin. The skin which has rashes or is burnt must not be prone to exfoliation. It can harm the skin further.
  • Exfoliating the skin which has recently been treated with lasers can be the erroneous decision ever. It can damage the skin to a great extent. So, one should never do that.
  • Never apply extra pressure or force on your face while exfoliating. The extra pressure that you apply can ruin your beautiful skin. Be easy and moderate towards your baby soft skin.
  • Do not exfoliate daily. Exfoliation is all about removing dead skin cells and they do not reside every day on our face. So, exfoliating daily may damage your skin.
