Hi, Lifestyle family. How are you guys doing? Are you worried because you are not losing weight after trying it for several weeks? Let’s have a reality check today because you might believe in some diet myths that actually don’t exist.
Today’s post is all about making your weight loss journey a sustainable one. When it comes to eating and dieting there are some golden rules that you are said to follow without any specific reason. Some of these diet myths are very misleading and, one should ditch them ASAP.
Today, we are going to debunk all the conventional golden rules and give you a reality check of how dieting and weight loss actually works.
1. Myth 1 – If you eat less food, you lose more weight.
Most of us believe that in order to lose weight we have to eat less. Some people are so feeble-minded that to reach their faster they eat even lesser.
Our body requires real food and if you consume fewer calories then, it will make use of it. There will be no energy left for workouts or even to perform daily tasks. This myth might help you lose weight initially. But, as soon as you return to your normal eating habits, the weight will come back stronger. It also comes with wrecked metabolism which makes it difficult for you to lose weight.
2. Myth 2 – Vegetarians don’t get enough protein
If you are a vegetarian, you will relate to this diet myth. The first thing you hear from people is where do you get your doze of protein from? There is a clear misconception that animal sources are the most dominant sources of protein.
The truth is that protein needs differ from person to person. It depends on your lifestyle, active hours, how much you work out and many more. An active individual requires more protein as compared to a lazy one. You need only 30% protein in your daily routine which can easily be sourced from natural sources.
3. Myth 3 – Brown bread is healthy and less fattening than white bread.
In the effort of clean and healthy eating, you usually hoard a bag of brown bread thinking it to be the most potent one. Well, you are not doing the right deed. This diet myth prevails in this universe like anything.
In reality, you are actually consuming white bread with a coating of caramel. If the label of your bread reads wheat enriched, then it’s purely white bread. The calories in white bread and brown bread are almost the same. If you are keen to have bread in your breakfast, then have whole grain bread instead of brown bread.
4. Myth 4 – Egg yolk increases cholesterol levels.
The word cholesterol is so threatening on its own that it gives an innocent face a sinister effect to never make you wanna look at it again. This diet myth has to be busted today. While you think eggs induce cholesterol levels, we would like to tell you that cholesterol is extremely important for your health.
Do not go overboard with your consumption of eggs. If you consume it in a portion then, it is never going to harm you. Ideally, you should have only three eggs per day as per your bodily needs. It is better to be safe than sorry.
This wraps up our diet myths and how strongly people believe in them. We suggest you don’t trust myths and follow the genuine points that benefit your body. Until next time stay tuned and stay extra.
